Location: Stevenage, Bristol or Bolton (Hybrid working, 2–3 days on-site)

Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 + bonus + excellent benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading defence organisation undergoing significant digital transformation, looking to appoint a Procurement Category Manager to join their growing Digital Procurement function.

This is a high-impact, group-level role where you will play a key part in shaping procurement strategy across a range of technology categories. You will operate within an international environment, partnering with stakeholders and suppliers to support the organisation’s evolving digital landscape.

The Role

You will be responsible for leading category management activity across areas such as software, IT services, infrastructure or wider digital spend, driving strategic sourcing and long-term value.

Key responsibilities include

• Developing and delivering category strategies aligned to business objectives
• Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple regions
• Leading sourcing activity, including complex tenders and commercial negotiations
• Analysing market trends, supplier landscapes and emerging technologies
• Identifying risks and opportunities to enhance commercial outcomes
• Supporting and mentoring junior team members to deliver procurement activity

About You

You will be an experienced procurement professional with a background in category management, ideally within technology or indirect spend.

You will bring

• Proven experience operating at Category Manager level or similar
• Exposure to technology procurement or a strong interest in developing in this space
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in sourcing and supplier negotiations
• Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
• Experience working in complex or multi-national environments is advantageous
• MCIPS qualification, or working towards it, is desirable
