Procurement Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Buyer / Procurement Specialist to join our growing Modular Services division, supporting the delivery of LV/MV Modular Power Pods for critical power, data centre, and industrial applications.
Working closely with Commercial, Sales, Engineering, Production, Project Management, Technical Teams, and Mechanical Design teams, the Procurement specialist will play a key role in sourcing and managing key components such as: Generators, CRAH (Computer Room Air Handling) units, UPS systems, Battery systems (VRLA/Li-ion), LV/MV Transformers, RMUs (Ring Main Units),Switchgear control systems and associated equipment for the modular solution.
This is a hands‑on procurement role in a fast‑paced modular manufacturing environment where build schedules, FAT testing, documentation cycles, and engineering coordination are tightly linked.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management, ensuring better buying and supply contracts.
- Source, negotiate, and procure equipment including Generators, CRAH units, UPS, batteries, transformers, RMUs, and associated LV/MV components.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure best value, quality, and delivery performance.
- Evaluate supplier technical data sheets, compliance documents, and warranty information.
- Operational & Cross‑Functional Support
- Work closely with Production teams to align material deliveries with build schedules, FAT requirements, and operational constraints.
- Support Project Managers with cost tracking, lead‑time forecasting, and risk mitigation relating to critical-path equipment.
- Interface with Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers to ensure purchased equipment aligns with design specifications and modular integration requirements.
- Assist Head of Technical with obtaining OEM documentation, manuals, and technical certification packs for inclusion in O&M manuals and FAT documentation.
- Material & Process Control
- Warehouse management, Goods in/Goods out.
- Maintain accurate purchase records, lead times, and cost histories.
- Ensure all procured items meet required standards, specifications, and QA requirements (ISO processes, FAT compliance, etc.).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to procurement efficiency, supply chain resilience, and product standardisation.
Skills and experience required
- Proven experience as a Buyer/Procurement Specialist within electrical, mechanical, modular, or industrial manufacturing.
- Knowledge of LV/MV electrical equipment, including UPS, transformers, RMUs, switchgear, and cooling systems (CRAH).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, GA layouts, BoMs, and engineering specifications.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and cost‑control skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, especially when working across engineering, production, and documentation teams.
- Experience supporting fast‑moving build and FAT environments.
- Competent user of ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
Desirable Background
- Experience in modular construction or prefabricated power systems.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical integration within modular enclosures (cooling, airflow, access, lifting considerations).
- Familiarity with BOM creation, DFMA principles, and procurement for off‑site manufacturing.
- Warehousing and stock management.
