INTERIM SENIOR PROCUREMENT MANAGER – INFRASTRUCTURE / UTILITIES

AWC is currently supporting a major infrastructure organisation with the appointment of an experienced Interim Senior Procurement Manager to provide immediate procurement leadership and drive the development of an effective, commercially focused procurement function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on procurement professional who can establish structure, introduce effective governance and build strategic supplier relationships across major infrastructure projects.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will take ownership of establishing an approved supply chain, developing Preferred Supplier List (PSL) frameworks and embedding practical procurement processes across pre-construction and project delivery teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish and implement an Approved Supply Chain / Preferred Supplier List (PSL).
• Introduce practical procurement tools, processes and governance to improve control and compliance.
• Identify strategic suppliers and develop category plans and framework agreements.
• Establish supplier relationship management (SRM) and performance management processes.
• Develop procurement frameworks and call-off mechanisms.
• Align procurement processes with pre-construction, commercial and site delivery teams.
• Provide hands-on leadership to an initial direct report and support the recruitment of an additional team member.

ABOUT YOU

You will have proven experience in a senior procurement leadership position within infrastructure, utilities or major project environments.

Ideally, you will demonstrate

• A track record of establishing PSLs, approved supply chains and framework agreements.
• Experience introducing procurement governance and processes within developing procurement functions.
• Strong supplier relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• The ability to influence operational teams and embed compliance without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
• A proactive, commercially minded approach with the ability to deliver results quickly.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

• Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D).
• Substations and electricity distribution networks.
• NEC3 / NEC4 contract knowledge.
• Subcontract procurement experience.
• MCIPS qualification (or equivalent practical experience).
