Procurement Consultant | Public Sector | Salary £38,000 - £43,000 | Hybrid | Birmingham UK

(Full-time and Part-time positions available)

We're partnering with a leading not-for-profit organisation supporting the UK education sector to appoint multiple Procurement Consultants based in Birmingham.

This is your chance to join a registered charity that helps schools, colleges, and universities procure smarter—while reinvesting every penny of surplus back into education through grants, training, and resources. This year alone, the organisation donated over £500,000 to educational institutions across the UK, funding projects for staff and students.

You'll work as a procurement consultant, directly supporting educational institutions across the UK, managing tenders, delivering procurement consultancy services, helping them buy compliantly and cost-effectively. Real impact, real variety, real purpose.

What makes this different

  • £38,000 - £43,000 – Competitive salary for the public/education sector
  • CIPS – beneficial but fully funded – CIPS is advantageous if you hold it, but the company will fully fund your qualification – sponsoring membership, covering exam costs, and supporting your professional development from day one
  • Hybrid working – 2/3 days on site at educational institutions based in Birmingham. Full-time and part-time patterns considered
  • Diverse categories – Work across FM, IT, HR, and professional services. No two days are the same
  • Annual Bonus + KPI incentives – Performance-linked rewards on top of your base salary
  • Strong pension contribution – Well above market standard
  • 30 days holiday + Christmas shutdown – 30 days annual leave excluding bank holidays, plus Christmas to New Year off at no cost to your allowance

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver end-to-end procurement services, from strategic sourcing advice through to tender management and contract award
  • Manage tender exercises including ITT preparation, bid evaluation, and supplier selection
  • Provide consultancy services such as spend analysis, contract management, procurement strategy development, and compliance advice
  • Support clients using compliant procurement frameworks and help them navigate the Procurement Act 2023 and PCR
  • Work across a variety of categories such as FM services, IT, catering and professional services
  • Deliver training and guidance on procurement best practices to client stakeholders

What they need

  • 3-5 years’ procurement experience with exposure to end-to-end procurement
  • Experience or exposure to bids and managing tenders
  • Minimum 1 year’s public sector experience (essential) – education sector experience a bonus
  • Knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 and Public Contracts Regulations (or eager to learn)
  • Client management or stakeholder engagement experience
  • Category experience in FM, IT, catering, or professional services (ideal but not essential)
  • CIPS not required – beneficial if held, but fully funded by the company if not
