Want to own the buying, not just help with it?

At Brothers, we make drinks people love. To do that, we need the right stuff, at the right price, arriving at the right time. That's where you come in.

This role is all about ownership. You'll look after around £5m of spend a year, and it's yours from start to finish. You'll write the plans, choose and manage the suppliers, run the tenders and deliver savings our Finance team can check and sign off.

No propping up someone else's plan. Your categories, your call.

What you'll look after

  • Direct spend: packaging and ingredients
  • Indirect spend: engineering, gases, waste, pallets, PPE, facilities and services

What you'll be doing

  • Leading sourcing from start to finish across your categories, including the key indirect ones
  • Writing one clear plan for each category that cuts risk, gets better value and helps the business do better. It'll cover where things stand, what the market's doing, which suppliers to use and what could go wrong
  • Running tenders from start to finish, from the request for proposal (RFP) right through to recommending who wins
  • Building strong relationships with key suppliers, checking they hit the service levels and targets we've agreed (SLAs and KPIs), and holding quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with them
  • Pushing suppliers to keep improving and to bring us new ideas
  • Keeping up with what's happening in your categories and building your network, so you become our go-to expert
  • Getting to know what teams across the business need, and shaping your plans around them
  • Keeping an eye on raw material prices, using hedging or other ways to protect us, and always having a plan B for supply
  • Working closely with our Planning team so materials turn up in the right place at the right time for production
  • Hitting a yearly savings and cost-avoidance target, checked by Finance
  • Making sure buying in your categories follows our policies, procedures and the law

What you'll bring

  • You've owned categories end to end before, not just supported a more senior buyer
  • You're a strong negotiator with a good head for the commercial side
  • You've run proper supplier reviews and managed performance, not just processed orders
  • You've led tenders from RFP to award
  • You know your way round budgets and forecasts
  • You've used an ERP system
  • You can plan projects and help people through change
  • You can show us the savings you've delivered, with numbers to back it up

It'd be great if you also have

  • Experience in FMCG, or even better, drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic)
  • CIPS, or you're working towards it
  • Experience of hedging to manage raw material prices

How we do things

We care about how results are delivered, not just what they are. In this role, that means speaking up early when something's not right, working as one team with Planning, Operations and Finance, owning your results, and making the tough calls with suppliers when you need to.

Room to grow

You won't manage anyone at the start. But as the function grows, there's scope to build a small team around you.

How you'll work

We know life doesn't run on a fixed timetable, so we'll support you with flexible working. You'll split your week between home and our site in a hybrid way that works for you and the team. You'll also visit suppliers from time to time.

What's in it for you

  • 25 days' holiday, plus 8 bank holidays
  • Company pension, with a 4% employer contribution
  • Wellbeing support
  • Training and development to help you grow
  • Free parking

Ready to apply?

Send us your CV and a few lines about why this role is right for you. We'll look at applications as they come in, so don't leave it too long.

We want everyone to have a fair chance. If you need any changes to the way we recruit, just tell us and we'll do our best to help.
