Head of Procurement

I am looking for an immediately available Head of Procurement to lead the Procurement function of a growing Logistics/Transport business based in Suffolk.

The business has grown significantly over the last 10 years and Procurement processes and policies – along with team performance – have not kept pace with the evolving requirements of an increasingly complex operation.

The Role

You will lead the end-to-end procurement function, focusing on both indirect and direct spend categories.

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a robust procurement strategy aligned with our rapid growth objectives.
• Vendor Ecosystem: Identify, negotiate with, and manage high-level partnerships, ensuring the best balance of quality, cost, and service.
• Risk Management: Navigate the complexities of the modern global supply chain, mitigating risks related to inflation, fuel volatility, and international logistics.
• Team Empowerment: Lead and mentor a dedicated procurement team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Sustainability: Drive our "Green Logistics" initiative by sourcing eco-friendly solutions and ensuring ethical compliance throughout the tier-levels.

Who You Are

• 8+ years in senior procurement roles, ideally within the logistics, distribution, or manufacturing sectors.
• MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) status is highly preferred.
• Negotiator: Able to influence with a proven track record of delivering significant cost savings without compromising on operational excellence.
• Knowledge of the Suffolk/East Anglian Logistics/Transport landscape is a massive plus.
• Proficient with ERP systems and the latest e-procurement tools.
