Head of Procurement Injection Moulding
Confidential - ManufacturingAs Head of Procurement, you will take full ownership of the procurement strategy, supplier management, and purchasing operations across the business. A key focus of the role will be the strategic sourcing of raw materials, including polymers, additives, colourants, packaging, and ancillary production materials, ensuring cost efficiency, continuity of supply, and quality standards are consistently met. As well as resourcing components and finished goods from international markets.
You will play a critical role in supporting operational performance, margin improvement, and long-term supplier partnerships within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a robust procurement strategy aligned with business objectives
- Lead and manage all purchasing activities, including raw materials, consumables and indirect spend
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with UK and international suppliers
- Manage supplier relationships, performance reviews, and supplier development initiatives
- Monitor global polymer markets and raw material price trends to mitigate risk and manage cost volatility
- Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or service
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations, quality standards, and sustainability targets
- Oversee inventory optimisation in collaboration with production and planning teams
- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team
- Provide regular reporting on procurement KPIs, savings, and supply chain risk
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in a senior procurement or purchasing leadership role within manufacturing
- Strong experience purchasing raw materials, ideally polymers or materials used in injection moulding
- Demonstrable track record of strategic sourcing and commercial negotiation
- Strong understanding of supply chain management principles
- Experience managing supplier relationships at a senior level
- Financial acumen with the ability to analyse cost structures and market trends
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience within the injection moulding or plastics manufacturing industry
- Experience sourcing internationally
- Experience sourcing components and finished goods from international markets
