Supply Chain Planner – Consumables

Location: Oxford

Working pattern: Primarily site-based, with a minimum of four days per week onsite

An opportunity to join a growing Oxford-based scientific technology company as a Supply Chain Planner – Consumables.

The role will take responsibility for demand and supply planning, inventory management and material availability across a portfolio of consumable products.

Working closely with Manufacturing, Warehouse, Quality, Sales, R&D and external manufacturing partners, you will help ensure materials and finished goods are available to meet production and customer demand while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.

You will also support new product introduction, product transfer and supplier development as the company continues to scale its consumables portfolio.

Responsibilities

Demand & Supply Planning

  • Develop and maintain demand and supply plans across the Consumables portfolio.
  • Translate demand requirements into material, inventory and capacity plans.
  • Maintain ERP/MRP planning parameters including lead times, order policies, reorder points and safety stock.
  • Analyse demand, inventory and supply data to identify shortages, excess inventory, capacity constraints and supply risks.
  • Develop mitigation plans before constraints impact production or customer supply.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels while balancing supply continuity, shelf-life requirements and working capital.
  • Support stock adjustments, stock takes, inventory investigations and discrepancy resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers on replenishment and inventory planning.

Supply & Purchasing

  • Raise and manage purchase orders for approved materials, components and services.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively resolve shortages, delays and supply discrepancies.
  • Work with suppliers and contract manufacturing partners to align production schedules, material requirements and capacity with demand.
  • Monitor batch, lot, shelf-life and expiry requirements alongside Quality and Warehouse teams.
  • Escalate significant supplier commercial, contractual or capacity issues.
  • Support supplier negotiations around pricing, lead times and commercial terms where required.
