  • *Job Purpose** - The Supply Chain Manager is accountable for ensuring the uninterrupted flow of materials, information, and products across the business. This role manages procurement, planning, supplier relationships, warehousing, and logistics to support operational efficiency, cost control and compliance.
  • *Core Accountabilities**

The following sets out the principal duties & areas of work related to this post however, the post holder is expected to perform other duties which are commensurate with the nature of their post and as may be reasonably requested by management.

  • *Purchasing**
  • **Strategic Sourcing:** Develop and implement category plans for ingredients, packaging, and sundries; keeping the business cost efficient and fully briefed on innovation.
  • **Supplier Management:** Establish and monitor KPI’s (OTIP, quality, service levels), leading quarterly business reviews where appropriate.
  • **Contract Management:** Ensure all key suppliers have fit-for-purpose contracts and pricing agreements, updated in line with business needs.
  • **Supply Chain Risk Management:** Maintain and periodically review risk registers for critical materials, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • **Risk & Compliance:** Work with the Quality & Technical Manager to ensure food safety, compliance, and traceability in the supply chain; being aware of ethical and sustainable sourcing.
  • **Pricing:** Negotiate pricing in a timely manner to minimise business risks; reporting any price increases/decreases to the Operations Director with suggested solutions as necessary.
  • **Cost Control:** Analyse spending to identify savings, manage budgets, and monitor market price trends.
  • **Process Improvement:** Drive efficiency in procurement processes, maximising use of available systems and information.
  • **Product Development:** Find new raw materials to enable business growth and development and contributing to wider product development projects.
  • *Planning**
  • **Production Planning & Scheduling:** Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and long-term production schedules to meet customer demand while maximising efficiency and minimizing downtime, having collaborated with sales, production and warehousing teams.
  • **Inventory & Material Management:** Oversee raw material availability, procurement, and inventory levels to avoid shortages. Defining and maintaining inventory parameters (safety stock, reorder levels) to balance warehousing, any business constraints and service levels.
  • **Capacity Planning:** Analyse production capacity to identify constraints and plan for the future, considering short, medium and long-term requirements.
  • **Continuous Improvement:** Implement improvements in planning processes and workflows to maximize productivity and accuracy.
  • **Systems Optimisation:** Optimise the Devonvale ERP systems and data analytics to drive efficiency and accuracy in planning.
  • *Warehousing and Logistics**
  • **Warehouse Team:** Provide effective formal management of the Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Operative; liaising with the Production team as necessary to organise ASH cover.
  • **Deliveries:** Schedule deliveries ensuring efficient warehousing operations
  • **FIFO:** Ensure stocks are managed on a First in First out basis, with potential short life situations raised early enough to find practical solutions.
  • **Stock Accuracy:** Ensure stock accuracy through cycle counting and reconciliation processes.
  • **Logistics Co-ordination:** Oversee transport partners or delivery scheduling to ensure OTIF performance.
  • *Health & Safety**
  • Champion Health & Safety within your team and spheres of influence. Continually monitoring and reviewing Health and Safety taking corrective actions and addressing breaches as required.
  • *Qualifications**
  • **Experience:** Proven experience in FMCG supply chain management/ ingredient sourcing (particularly procurement and planning) preferably within the food/beverage industry. Demonstrable experience of leading a team and influencing and managing others in a fast-paced environment.
  • **Knowledge:** Understanding of food manufacturing, quality and safety standards, retail supply requirements and supply chain logistics.
  • **Skills:** Excellent communication skills are a prerequisite, along with well-developed people skills to motivate and influence your team and peers. Ability to think on your feet with well honed problem solving skills. Strong negotiation and analytical skills, demonstrable systems and IT p
