Polytec are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our Saffron Walden based client. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing sourcing, purchasing and supplier relationships across a variety of technical and operational categories. This hands-on role supports engineering, RandD, and operations teams by ensuring timely access to critical materials, components and services.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process: sourcing, quoting, negotiating, and raising POs
• Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers across technical and operational categories
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms
• Coordinate shipments, deliveries, and customs documentation
• Work closely with engineering and operations to understand requirements and timelines
• Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and component records
• Improve procurement processes, workflows, and documentation as the organisation scales

Requirements

Essential

• Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles-ideally within engineering, manufacturing, or tech
• Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills
• Ability to read or clarify technical specifications
• Strong organisational, multitasking, and communication skills
• Familiarity with procurement systems, POs, and inventory processes

Desirable

• Experience in defence, aerospace, robotics, or hardware-focused tech
• Understanding of export controls and international shipping
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
• CIPS qualification (or working towards it)
