Role Overview
We are seeking a Project & Procurement Manager – Tidal Energy to lead QED’s delivery of its key tidal energy projects and to oversee associated procurement activities across the full lifecycle. This full-time, on-site role based from Edinburgh requires a proactive, analytical professional who can manage suppliers, contractors, budgets, and deliverables while ensuring high-quality outcomes aligned with QED Naval’s technical standards.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage tidal energy projects from inception through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality targets are met.
- Oversee end-to-end procurement processes, including tendering, supplier selection, and purchasing of materials and services.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and performance assessments to ensure value, reliability, and compliance.
- Negotiate contracts, monitor contract compliance, and manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and finance,to support project delivery.
- Track project milestones, maintain procurement documentation, and ensure alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practice.
- Drive cost-effective decision-making, budget management, and risk mitigation throughout project execution.
- Support the development and optimisation of supply-chain strategies for tidal and marine energy technologies.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5+ years of project management experience within the energy sector ideally renewable, marine, or tidal.
- Proven expertise in procurement, supplier evaluation, and supply-chain management.
- Strong experience in contract negotiation, contract management, and vendor performance monitoring.
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical, financial, and operational data.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while driving projects forward.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing budgets and cost-control processes.
- Knowledge of renewable energy or marine engineering industries is a strong advantage.
- Proficiency in procurement analysis tools, tracking systems, and standard software packages.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
