Group Head of Supply Chain
Sanderson Design Group plc.We are looking for an experienced Group Head of Supply Chain to lead and optimise our end‑to‑end supply chain across a multi‑site manufacturing environment. This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for purchasing, planning, and warehouse operations, ensuring the right materials and resources are available at the right time to support production and customer delivery. You will play a critical role in improving service, inventory, cost, and resilience—while building strong teams, strengthening supplier performance, and driving continuous improvement across the Group.
This is an opportunity to shape and lead the end‑to‑end supply chain of a multi‑site, design‑led manufacturing group—driving service, resilience and performance at the heart of our business.
Responsibilities
Supply Chain Leadership & Strategy
- Define and deliver a Group supply chain strategy aligned to operational, commercial and customer requirements
- Lead, coach and develop purchasing, planning and warehouse teams, setting clear KPIs and development plans
- Build a high‑performance culture focused on safety, service, accountability and continuous improvement
- Partner cross‑functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Product/Technical, Finance, Sales and Customer Service
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Own purchasing strategy across direct and indirect spend (as applicable)
- Lead supplier selection, onboarding, negotiation and contract management
- Drive cost reduction, standardisation, risk mitigation and supplier performance improvement
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality, ethical, sustainability and traceability standards
- Proactively manage supply risk including capacity, single‑source exposure and logistics disruption
Planning (Materials, Resources & Production)
- Own and continuously improve demand inputs, MRP, capacity planning and production scheduling
- Ensure production plans are feasible and aligned to labour, machine capacity, materials and maintenance constraints
- Set and maintain key planning parameters (MOQ, safety stock, reorder points, lead times)
- Lead S&OP / planning cadence, enabling strong decision‑making and scenario planning
Warehouse, Logistics & Goods In/Out
- Oversee inbound, storage, picking, dispatch and finished goods movements
- Drive inventory accuracy, ERP/WMS discipline and strong stock control
- Improve OTIF performance, warehouse productivity and flow
- Manage carrier performance and logistics costs where in scope
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety, quality and regulatory requirements
Performance, Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Own key KPIs including OTIF, inventory turns, working capital, schedule adherence and cost‑to‑serve
- Partner with Finance on forecasting, budgeting and cost control
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean / CI principles
- Improve ERP/MRP usage, reporting, master data and standard operating procedures
- Develop contingency and business continuity plans for critical materials and routes

About you
- Proven senior supply chain leadership experience across purchasing, planning and warehouse/logistics
- Strong manufacturing supply chain knowledge, from materials to dispatch
- Track record of improving service, inventory, cost and supplier performance
- Strong negotiation and supplier governance capability
- Advanced understanding of ERP/MRP, capacity planning and scheduling
- Confident people leader with experience leading change and developing teams
- Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, able to influence at all levels
- Experience in regulated or quality‑critical environments
- Continuous improvement capability (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma)
- Experience implementing or optimising ERP/WMS systems
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Supply Chain, Operations, Business or related discipline
- Professional accreditation beneficial (CIPS, APICS / ASCM CPIM or CSCP)
