GLOBAL PROCUREMENT MANAGER
North East – Hybrid
Salary & package dependent on experience
Select Talent is delighted to be partnering with a global manufacturing business to appoint a Global Procurement Manager.
This is a newly created, high-impact standalone role, offering the opportunity to shape procurement best practice across an international, multi-site business.
Reporting to the Global Procurement Director, you will take ownership of a multi-million-pound indirect spend and consumables portfolio, alongside leading procurement activity for business-critical projects, innovation and new product development.
The business is looking for a commercially minded procurement professional who can see the bigger picture: someone comfortable improving processes, systems and supplier strategy, rather than simply operating within an established framework.
Although this is a standalone role with no direct reports, you will have significant influence across the wider global procurement function, working closely with international purchasing colleagues and senior stakeholders across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Lead procurement strategy for indirect spend, consumables and designated business-critical projects.
- Manage procurement input across innovation and NPD projects, ensuring suppliers, materials, cost, quality, terms and timelines are aligned from concept through to delivery.
- Review and develop the supply base, identifying alternative sources, cost-saving opportunities and improvements to resilience, continuity and service.
- Lead tenders, supplier negotiations and commercial agreements, balancing value, quality, compliance, availability and risk.
- Assess the full commercial picture in sourcing decisions, including price, lead times, payment terms, quality, compliance, supplier capability and credit exposure.
- Improve procurement processes, systems, reporting and ways of working, creating greater consistency, structure and visibility.
- Work closely with stakeholders across Operations, Supply Chain, Innovation, Quality and Finance to ensure procurement is engaged early and adds commercial value.
- Coordinate multiple projects and priorities, ensuring activity progresses at pace and delivers the right outcome for the business.
About you
- Ideally degree-qualified in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Science or a related discipline.
- Ideally CIPS-qualified, or working towards a relevant procurement qualification.
- Proven procurement experience within manufacturing, FMCG or another complex operational environment.
- Experience managing indirect procurement, consumables and project-based sourcing, ideally across multi-site or international operations.
- Comfortable managing multi-million-pound spend portfolios and complex supplier relationships.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with a focus on value, quality, risk and long-term supply—not simply cost reduction.
- Experience improving procurement processes, systems and governance.
- Credible and confident in influencing senior stakeholders and global colleagues without direct authority.
- Practical, solutions-focused and motivated by fixing issues and improving how things are done.
This is a visible role with genuine scope to shape procurement capability, influence global supply decisions and make a lasting impact on a growing international business.
