Procurement Manager
Building a sustainable tomorrow
BAM is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Procurement Manager who can strengthen our existing Supply Chain Management and Procurement team undertaking procurement activities for civil engineering projects across Scotland. The projects are predominantly within the energy infrastructure sector, building new substations and HVDC converter stations to support Scotland's transition to net Zero. The role is based in our area office in Kilsyth (Glasgow) with travel nationally when required to other BAM offices and project sites etc.
The goal is to develop a 'best in class' procurement function which supports the BAM strategy of focus, transform & expand, the Divisional Procurement strategy and objectives and leverages our scale whilst de-risking the delivery of the portfolio through the supply chain. The Procurement Manager will support the Group Procurement Strategy in order to create value, achieve the objectives of the sustainability strategy, lower risks and drive higher margins through proactive management, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Making Possible
As a Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
- Preparation of supply chain management data and procurement reports for presentation to the Senior Leadership Team including carbon intensity reporting in the supply chain (Scope 3)
- Provide assurance support to the BAM UK & Ireland Tender Desk function
- Promote and support Category Management and drive compliance through better use of framework agreements and preferred suppliers including seeking appropriate opportunities through regional and SME supply chain networks
- Support and enhance business initiatives including DFMA and utilise digital technologies within the supply chain to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure the procurement function is engaged and accountable at every stage of the project lifecycle
- Ensure the supply chain works collaboratively to help deliver the requirements of the Sustainability Strategy
- Expertise in supply chain resource capacity analysis to support demand planning
- Ensure financial resilience and health checks are undertaken within the supply chain throughout the procurement process
- Lead the Supplier Engagement within the region as part of the up-scaling strategy to deliver the portfolio Promote a standardised Divisional approach to the procurement process
- Ensure effective negotiations are conducted with the Supply Chain
What do you bring to the role?
- Educated to a degree level in an Engineering, Commercial or Business related discipline
- Preferably MCIPS Qualified
- Proven ability to lead whole life cycle procurement activities for major infrastructure frameworks including civils works, building construction and mechanical and electrical related scope
- Experienced in developing Procurement Strategies and Procurement Plans in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships
- A natural comfort in working in a collaborative manner and a desire to seek opportunities to develop synergies across our business
- A good awareness of supply chain vendors, for both subcontract and materials procurement including through international sourcing opportunities
- Ability to conduct effective communications at all levels within the business
- The ability to build, maintain and influence relationships at all levels of the organisation with ease
- Embraces collaborative working and has a desire to seek opportunities to develop synergies across the Division and drives positive changes in behaviour and approach
- Competent with all forms of contract including NEC4 and FIDIC
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Competent using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Competent in the use Jaggaer, Constructionline and SAP (including SAP Materials Management) and S4H
- Experience and understanding of sub-contract procurement and negotiation processes
