We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Purchasing / Procurement to lead and develop our direct procurement function within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. You will play a critical role in managing the sourcing and supply of direct materials, components, and engineered parts that are essential to our production and customer delivery commitments.

This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring deep expertise in aerospace-grade materials, supply chain risk management, and supplier development across a high-spec, quality-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the direct procurement strategy, aligning with business objectives around cost, quality, compliance, and delivery.
Develop and manage the supply base for raw materials, machined components, sub-assemblies, and engineered parts.
Negotiate complex contracts and long-term agreements (LTAs) with strategic suppliers.
Ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and other aerospace standards across the supplier base.
Implement robust supply chain risk management strategies, including dual sourcing, supplier consolidation, and resilience planning.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Planning to forecast demand and support new product introduction (NPI).
Drive year-on-year improvements in cost, lead time, and supplier performance.
Build and lead a high-performing purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and commercial acumen.
Manage inventory and working capital through effective order planning and vendor partnerships.

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience as a Head of Purchasing, Senior Buyer, or Procurement Manager within an aerospace or precision engineering environment.
Deep understanding of direct procurement, including metals, composites, machined components, castings, forgings, etc.
Strong contract negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
Excellent understanding of aerospace compliance requirements and documentation.
ERP / MRP proficiency (e.g. SAP, Oracle, IFS, or similar).
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Commercially astute with a data-driven approach to supplier performance and cost control.
Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business. CIPS qualification desirable.
