Procurement & Customs Coordinator (Sea Freight) Vacancy in Luton!

Join our vibrant and high performing team based in Luton, as a Sea Freight Procurement & Customs Coordinator. This role is crucial for coordinating freight bookings, managing customs clearance, and ensuring efficient movement of goods internationally, focusing primarily on sea freight with some involvement in air freight.
Day-to-day of the role
- Freight Booking & Coordination:
- Coordinate all aspects of freight bookings for both inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring alignment with production and sales requirements.
- Negotiate rates and manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and airlines.
- Monitor and optimize shipping routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Track shipments and resolve any transit issues promptly.
- Customs Documentation & Clearance:
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation for customs clearance including bills of lading and commercial invoices.
- Work closely with customs brokers to ensure smooth clearance processes and compliance with international regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in customs duties and international trade laws affecting FMCG products.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of shipments and customs declarations.
- Ensure compliance with international trade laws and report on logistics metrics to senior management.
- Customer & Vendor Communication:
- Act as the primary contact for internal teams and external partners regarding freight and customs matters.
- Provide updates and resolve any queries related to shipment status and delivery timelines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in freight operations, ideally within the FMCG sector.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping processes and customs regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with logistics management software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
