Supply Chain and Operations Coordinator

Our client is a growing importer, distributor and retailer seeking a Supply Chain and Operations Coordinator to manage the flow of products from supplier through to customer.

Working across purchasing, stock control, logistics, warehousing and sales support, you will play a key role in ensuring products are sourced efficiently, inventory remains accurate and operations run smoothly.

A significant part of the role involves reviewing, improving and helping implement systems and processes across purchasing, inventory management, order processing and warehouse operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys driving operational improvements and delivering lasting change.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement and Supplier Management

Manage purchasing activities across UK and international suppliers.

Raise and manage purchase orders based on stock levels, forecasts and lead times.

Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules and service levels.

Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms.

Maintain accurate supplier, product and pricing data.

Resolve supply issues, shortages and quality concerns.

Stock Control and Planning

Maintain accurate inventory records.

Manage reorder points, safety stock levels and purchasing triggers.

Monitor stock availability, ageing inventory and slow-moving stock.

Coordinate stock counts and investigate discrepancies.

Produce reports to support purchasing and operational decisions.

Logistics and Supply Chain

Coordinate inbound deliveries, imports and supplier shipments.

Liaise with freight providers, logistics partners and carriers.

Track orders, delivery schedules and goods in transit.

Support import documentation and logistics administration.

Monitor landed costs and supply chain performance.

Warehouse and Operations

Improve goods-in, storage, picking, packing and dispatch processes.

Support warehouse organisation and stock location control.

Help develop operational KPIs and performance measures.

Improve packaging, product handling and fulfilment efficiency.

Systems and Process Improvement

Review existing purchasing, stock and warehouse processes.

Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.

Support ERP, inventory management and warehouse system projects.

Create and maintain operational procedures and documentation.

Produce reports and dashboards to support decision making.

Skills and Experience

Essential

Minimum 5 years' experience within procurement, purchasing, supply chain, stock control or operations.

Experience managing suppliers and purchasing activities.

Strong understanding of inventory control, warehousing and distribution.

Proven experience using or improving ERP, stock management or warehouse systems.

Strong Excel and data analysis skills.

Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.

Commercial awareness and ability to manage competing priorities.

Desirable

Experience within importing, manufacturing, wholesale, retail or construction-related sectors.

Knowledge of import logistics, freight forwarding or customs processes.

Experience improving warehouse operations and inventory controls.

Exposure to product development or range management.
