
Trainee Supply Chain Buyer/Planner

We're seeking a Trainee Supply Chain Buyer/Planner to join our Global Supply Chain team in Cirencester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some supply chain experience who is eager to develop their knowledge of purchasing, planning, inventory management, and supplier relationships while working alongside experienced Supply Chain Buyer/Planners.
In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting the smooth flow of materials throughout our supply chain, ensuring products are available when needed and contributing to the success of our manufacturing operations.
What you’ll do Support Buyer/Planners with purchase orders and Work in Progress (WIP) reports, ensuring orders are acknowledged promptly and any risks to supply are highlighted. Maintain accurate and up-to-date open purchase order reports, escalating any issues to the relevant Buyer/Planner.
Modify and amend purchase orders generated from requisitions and monitor open PO’s to assist with on- time deliveries.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, confirming production and shipping schedules.
Proactively communicate product and material availability issues.
Support the review of MRP data and messages, including delay, bring forward, and cancellation recommendations, ensuring supply schedules meet production requirements and safety stock levels.
Assist with inventory management activities, including reporting, inventory parameter maintenance, stock reduction initiatives, and reserve percentage measurements.
Coordinate Work in Progress (WIP) activities with subcontract suppliers.
Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to support an effective and efficient material planning process.
Assist with compiling and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
Take responsibility for the consumable warehouse within Sage (Warehouse 30), ensuring inventory levels remain accurate.
Reconcile supplier deliveries against receipt reports to ensure purchase order accuracy.
About You
Previous experience working within a supply chain environment (Desirable)
Sage system experience (desirable).
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills.
The ability to balance short-term priorities while supporting long-term supply chain objectives.
A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to thrive in a growing and evolving business.
A proactive, self-motivated attitude and the ability to work independently under pressure.
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
