Role Purpose

To manage the end-to-end inbound ordering and supply of poultry products, supporting the continued growth of this strategically important category while ensuring continuity of supply, effective stock management and cost-efficient international logistics.

The role manages the journey from order placement and overseas production through international freight, UK arrival and onward depot delivery. Working closely with overseas suppliers, logistics partners and internal Commercial, Buying and Supply Chain teams, the Inbound Supply Chain Manager balances customer demand, stock availability, working capital, lead times and supply risk.

As the poultry category grows, the role will also play an important part in developing scalable inbound processes, systems and reporting that provide strong visibility and control across an increasingly complex international supply chain.

Responsibilities

● Manage the end-to-end inbound ordering and supply process for poultry products, from purchase order placement through overseas production, international freight, UK arrival and depot delivery.

● Ensure orders are placed accurately and on time, aligned to demand forecasts, customer requirements, stock levels and agreed supply plans.

● Work closely with overseas manufacturing and processing sites to confirm orders, production schedules, availability and expected shipment dates.

● Maintain clear visibility of production, shipment and delivery status, proactively identifying potential delays or supply constraints.

● Manage long lead-time replenishment, balancing availability, stock cover, working capital and supply risk.

● Develop and maintain appropriate safety and buffer stock parameters to protect customer service while avoiding unnecessary inventory.

● Work closely with demand planning and Commercial teams to understand changing customer demand, promotional activity, new business and other factors affecting future supply requirements.

● Manage relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines and logistics partners, ensuring effective shipment planning and execution.

● Monitor vessel schedules, container bookings, ETDs, ETAs and onward delivery requirements, taking proactive action where plans change.

● Optimise container utilisation and shipment planning to support both availability and cost efficiency.

● Identify and proactively manage inbound supply chain risks including production delays, port congestion, shipping disruption, customs issues and geopolitical events.

● Develop practical contingency and recovery plans where supply continuity is at risk.

● Maintain accurate purchase order, shipment, container and stock information within relevant ERP, WMS and supply chain systems.

● Develop strong reporting and visibility of stock cover, inbound orders, lead times, containers and supply risks.

● Use data and analysis to identify potential shortages, excess stock and emerging supply issues before they impact customers.

● Support effective management of freight and inbound logistics costs, including freight rates, demurrage, detention and other avoidable charges.

● Support accurate landed-cost information and work with Finance and relevant teams to investigate discrepancies.

● Work closely with Technical and Compliance colleagues to ensure relevant product, supplier and import requirements are understood and incorporated into supply planning.

● Support new product launches, customer wins and category growth by ensuring inbound supply plans are developed and implemented effectively.

● Build strong working relationships with overseas suppliers and partners, providing appropriate challenge while maintaining collaborative long-term relationships.

● Monitor and report relevant inbound supply chain KPIs, identifying trends and taking action to improve performance.

● Identify and implement opportunities to improve inbound processes, systems, controls and ways of working.

● Support the development of scalable international supply chain capability as the poultry category and wider Fullers Foods business continue to grow.

Provide support across other inbound categories or supply chain priorities where reasonably required.
