Our client, an innovative Climate Tech start-up based across their East Kilbride and Glasgow offices, is looking for a proactive and highly organised Purchasing Officer to join them on a permanent basis. The role can be based in East Kilbride or Glasgow City Centre and our client also offers hybrid working.
The Purchasing Officer will source, purchase, and manage the supply of equipment, materials, tooling, and consumables required for company operations. You will build relationships with new and existing suppliers, ensure timely delivery, maintain full traceability, and identify opportunities to reduce costs and lead times.
Working closely with engineers and project teams, you will support technical operations, R&D, and project deployments, ensuring all purchased items are compliant, cost-effective, and available when needed. This fast-paced role suits someone confident in technical environments with strong supplier management and coordination skills.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
- Previous experience in procurement, ideally in engineering or technical environments.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Understanding of supply chain logistics.
- Familiarity with regulatory and traceability requirements.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software.
Desirable
- Experience with sourcing chemicals and industrial gases (e.g., isopentane, liquid nitrogen).
- Experience arranging equipment and tooling for technical projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Supplier Management
- Maintain and update a list of known suppliers.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers as needed.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Ensure suppliers provide traceability documents such as Declarations of Conformity and Material Certificates.
Purchasing & Equipment Acquisition
- Purchase equipment, tooling, fixtures, fittings, consumables, and test ancillaries.
- Source special items including isopentane, liquid nitrogen, and other chemicals or gases.
- Arrange additional power supply, generators, and storage areas as required.
- Monitor supply chain performance and manage delivery schedules.
Cost & Efficiency Optimisation
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and lead times.
- Ensure procurement processes are efficient and compliant with company policies.
Logistics & Transport
- Organize transport via couriers, customs clearance, or company vehicles.
- Coordinate deliveries to ensure timely receipt of goods.
Documentation & Traceability
- Acquire and maintain all relevant documentation for purchased materials and equipment.
- Ensure full traceability of materials used in projects.
