Education required: To apply for this placement, you must be:

Currently studying an Undergraduate Degree in one of the following disciplines: Engineering (accredited), Business, Maths, Science, Supply Chain based degree, Business or Supply Chain, Engineering, Economics or Data Analytics.

Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic of Ireland) University for the duration of your placement.

If you have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.

Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

Expected Start date: July 2026

Duration: 1 year (approximately)

Salary: £27,100 (London) or £25,400 (all other areas) plus a bonus.

Role 1 - Business and Supply Chain – Montrose

Degree requirements: Science and manufacturing related degrees

Overview of the Department

The Scheduling Department at Montrose plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless coordination of production timelines across various functions. This team is responsible for managing schedules that align with supply chain demands, regulatory requirements, and operational capacity to meet business objectives. Their work helps optimise workflows, minimise delays, and maintain a consistent supply of products to patients and customers worldwide.

Key Placement Learnings

Production plan scheduling for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Day to day supporting the business with takings actions, problem solving and collaborating with support functions.
Support and carry out continuous improvement projects.
Contributing to the wider site Smart Manufacturing initiatives, investigating opportunities for digital solutions.

Role 2 – Logistics Shared Services & Supply Chain – Barnard Castle

Degree requirements: Engineering (accredited undergraduate degree), Business, Maths, Science, or related.

Overview of the Department

Barnard Castle is a key secondary site for GSK with a large number of New Products coming through development at site. We manufacture and supply a huge range of different pharmaceutical products from Sterile Products (Syringes and Vials) to Liquid Inhalations and Dermatologicals. We have recently opened a new state of the art aseptic digital facility producing biopharmaceuticals.

Role 3 - GSK Production System - Worthing

Overview of the Department

GPS (GlaxoSmithKline Production System) is GSKs system for deploying Lean Sigma methodologies to drive business performance. Practitioners deploy the OneGPS system effectively through the site based on business needs, collaborating closely with the Site Leadership Teams and aligned Value Stream Directors (VSD). As a GPS Practitioner, you will coach and facilitate the embedding of the GPS standards so that work as a system to improve and support business performance. Key to this is GSK Industrial Placement UK Programme Pharmaceutical Business and Supply Chain (Multiple Roles & Locations) Industrial Placement, UK 2026 supporting the change management for enhancing our problem-solving capabilities and continuous improvement mindset.

Key Placement Learnings

The Site GPS team is accountable for deploying and embedding the GSK Production System to deliver the Business Strategy and improving Business Performance (Quality, Safety, Service, Cost, and Innovation).
Supports site teams in GPS roll-out; making sure that GPS is being used to develop the capability of all the Site personnel to implement day to day continuous improvement activities.
Helps to ensure the day-to-day continuous improvement activities result in a continuous improvement in the Site Performance towards the goal of Zero Accidents, Zero Defects and Zero Waste.
Conducts ‘self-assessment’ of the Site vs. the GPS Maturity matrices and supports the site to close any gaps.
Coaches and trains Site teams in GPS.

Role 4 - Supply and Logistics - Worthing

Degree requirements: Supply Chain, logistics, Business

Overview of the Department

The scheduling team within the Supply & Logistics department at the Worthing site is integral to the efficient functioning of the site’s supply chain. This team oversees the planning and procurement of incoming materials to support manufacturing schedules and manages production timelines, ensuring that finished goods are prepared for shipment in a timely manner. Their responsibilities include developing plans that meet supply chain demands while operating within established capacities, thereby optimizing workflows, reducing delays, and ensuring a consistent supply of products to patients and customers globally. Placement participants will gain exposure and interaction across all site functions, providing valuable insights into a broad array of operational processes.

Key Placement Learnings

Assist with inventory management to identify and address at-risk stock (slow-moving and obsolete items) and coordinate with key functions to prevent future issues.
Participate in scheduling and cross-functional meetings, provide support with facilitation and problem-solving, and collaborate effectively with other support departments.
Develop digital solutions to simplify and automate existing scheduler processes, utilising tools such as AI, Power BI, and Power Apps.
Oversee progress in relation to Supply & Logistics objectives and KPIs and provide support for project execution.
Participate in and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department and the site to streamline processes and reduce waste.
Gain understanding in supply chain principles and applying analytical thinking to business situations and scenarios.

Role 5 - External Manufacturing – GSK HQ

Global Supply Chain management is all about ensuring we can supply our lifesaving and life-enhancing products to people around the globe, but making sure that the right products arrive at the right time in the right place is no easy task. We offer a variety of supply chain placements, from forecasting demand, production planning, raw materials management, and data analytics, to warehousing and supply chain logistics. Whichever role you undertake, you’ll be fully immersed in the day-to-day and future plans of the role and in playing a key part in ensuring our products reach our patients and consumers in an efficient and timely manner.

Overview of the Department

The GSK Worthing site is a key facility within the company's network, focused on manufacturing and packaging essential pharmaceutical products. Specializing primarily in the production of antibiotics, Worthing plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality medicines reach patients globally.

As part of the Warehouse Team at Worthing, you will be joining a dynamic department that sits under Supply and Logistics. The team plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the site by managing deliveries in, deliveries out, and supporting internal workflows. In addition to its core logistics functions, the warehouse also includes an area of manufacturing, further contributing to the site's end-to-end supply chain processes. Your role within the Warehouse Team will focus on driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimise performance, enhance efficiency, and ensure safety and quality standards are upheld.

As an Industrial Placement student, you will gain hands on experience supporting day-to-day operations, tackling problem-solving activities to address real operational challenges and collaborating with teams to identify opportunities for improvement. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality, while working with cross functional teams to deliver on key business goals. This dynamic environment will give you exposure to world-class manufacturing processes and the chance to develop practical skills alongside professional expertise, all while contributing to projects that directly impact patient outcomes.

Overview of the Department

Act as a change agent for introducing the 6 GPS standards and standardised ways of working.
Identify and share learnings / best practices from other GSK sites and within the site.

Role 8 - Business and Supply Chain - Ware

Overview of the Department

The Ware manufacturing site is GSK’s flagship location for New Product Introduction (NPI) and plays a critical role in the delivery of life-changing medicines to patients worldwide. Interns in Supply & Logistics will be at the heart of this mission, supporting the seamless flow of materials and products across a complex global network.

The Supply & Logistics department at the Ware manufacturing site is responsible for orchestrating end-to-end supply chain operations that ensure timely and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical products, which includes both oral solid dose (OSD) platforms and dry powder inhalers. The function comprises of Production & Materials Scheduling, Warehouse Operations, Harmonisation team (Business & Data Process Experts), Launch & Data and Product Lifecycle Management. In this role you will have the opportunity to get involved in work across the entire Logistics function to support and manage the delivery of key improvement projects, such as improving Warehouse capacity and material availability, advanced scheduling programmes and lead time reduction.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Supply & Logistics, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and reduce waste.
Utilise GSK continuous improvement methodologies to drive change and solve top problems.

Role 9 - General Medicine Supply - Worthing

Overview of the Department

Roles exist in the General Medicine global supply chain planning team, who support day to day supply chain activities from Primary API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) manufacturing through to Secondary manufacturing and packing. These roles provide a great opportunity to work with functions such as commercial, strategy, quality, technical, logistics and site scheduling teams. To be successful in the General Medicine role, effective communication skills and stakeholder management is key. The General Medicine planning team is also responsible for supplying the Global Health Asset, driving the GSK Trust agenda with leading Supranational Organisations such as WHO, UNICEF, MSF etc.

Key Placement Learnings

Supporting the monthly Sales & Operational Planning process to learning the concepts of balancing of cost and cash with service targets.
Working closely with site/global functions to deliver a supply plan that is balanced across multiple franchises. You will be involved in capacity planning and stock and inventory management.
