Job Title: Supply Chain Manager (Construction)

Location: Cumbria (Hybrid/flexible working arrangements available – speak to your recruiter for options)

Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 per annum

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join a major long-term investment programme in the North West. You will play a pivotal role in developing sourcing and contracting solutions, leading procurement processes, and managing commercial relationships with strategic suppliers. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a high-performing team in a dynamic construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop sourcing and contracting strategies aligned with the Infrastructure Construction Strategy.
  • Lead and manage the assigned team, creating an environment that enables success.
  • Drive the sourcing and contracting procurement process, including tender pack development, evaluation, and award.
  • Ensure the quality of sourcing and contracting documentation is of the highest standard.
  • Negotiate and finalise contracts with the external supply chain.
  • Manage commercial performance of contractors and contract delivery.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • Coordinate end-to-end procurement processes, ensuring issues are communicated and resolved effectively.
  • Contribute to bidding activities, ensuring budgets align with business objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting on delivery progress and escalate issues as required.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in supply chain within the construction industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of JCT and NEC construction contracts.
  • Proven experience in developing construction strategies.
  • Understanding of procurement approaches, techniques, processes, policy, and strategy.
  • Experience in contract and supplier performance management.
  • Experience managing a team of supply chain professionals.

Desirable

  • Client-side experience.
  • MCIPS qualification.
  • Experience in public sector or regulated environments.
