Procurement Specialist Job Description

The role involves ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and components, adhering to the highest standards of quality and supplier performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Material Procurement Planning: Plan and procure materials required for assembly in line with project requirements while reducing inventory levels and continually minimizing costs.
  • Purchasing Management: Ensure parts and materials are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.
  • Supplier Sourcing and Management: Identify new suppliers, agree terms, and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain effective supplier relationships, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify, exploit, and monitor opportunities for reduced costs and wastage throughout the purchasing function, maintaining and improving product quality and on-time delivery.
  • Supplier Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, cost, or delivery.
  • Process Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing department.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all relevant ISO9001 procedures are adhered to.
  • Supply Quality Control: Ensure quality and performance of ordered materials align with required standards.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Purchasing Experience: Proven experience in procurement and purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Supply Chain Knowledge: Strong understanding of supply chain principles and practices.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively manage supplier relationships.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data and solve problems to optimize purchasing processes.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
