Logistics & Inventory Coordinator

Location: Cambridge, office based

Functional area: Production

Reports to: Production Manager

Role Description

As part of the production team the Logistics & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for the efficient planning, coordination, and control of the movement, storage, and distribution of materials, goods, and products within the organization. The role ensures optimal inventory levels, timely delivery, and alignment with production, procurement, and customer demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee transportation and distribution operations to ensure timely delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with customs, shipping, and safety regulations.
  • Manage and process commercial and freight invoices, ensuring accurate billing and timely payments.
  • Monitor, record, and control inventory levels across warehouses and production areas.
  • Maintain accurate records in ERP or WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Odoo).
  • Forecast material requirements and align with production planning and procurement
  • Coordinate with customers to confirm service appointments, access needs, and documentation.
  • Track service activities, parts usage, and engineer hours for billing and reporting.
  • Develop, document, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for logistics and inventory processes.
  • Produce regular reports on inventory turnover, accuracy, and stock aging.
  • Additional tasks aligned with team objectives as needed.

  • Strong computing ability; capable of supporting ERP management and assisting colleagues.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in logistics, inventory control, or supply chain within biotech, life sciences, medical devices, or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Experience handling temperature-sensitive, sterile, or fragile biological materials (e.g., reagents, cell culture media, diagnostic kits, controlled substances).
  • Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments, including export controls, customs documentation, and dangerous goods handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively: Experienced in working closely with production teams to align logistics with operational needs. Experienced in fostering strong relationships with hauliers, internal stakeholders, and customers, ensuring smooth coordination and timely resolution of issues across the supply chain.
  • Relevant experience in stock control within manufacturing and distribution environments using ERP systems.
