Procurement Supervisor
Location: Somerset
Role Type: Permanent
Salary: £40,000 + benefits package.
Reporting to: Head of Procurement
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly organised Procurement Supervisor to join their dynamic procurement team. This is a pivotal role that supports the efficient operation of the procurement function, delivering transactional, analytical, and compliance-based support across the business.
Working closely with the Head of Procurement, the successful candidate will help ensure procurement activities are aligned with best practices, regulatory standards, and company objectives. The role offers a structured pathway for professional development, in line with CIPS best practice, making it an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to advance their career in procurement.
We are open to any candidates who have worked previously in any form of manufacturing or FMCG environment and candidates who can step up into this position.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Operations
- Raise, process, and manage purchase orders in line with company policy
- Prepare tender documentation and support tender coordination
- Oversee supplier onboarding and maintain accurate supplier records
- Manage day-to-day supplier queries for non-critical categories
Data & Performance Insights
- Collect and analyse procurement data (spend, savings, supplier performance)
- Produce reports and dashboards for management and stakeholders
- Support spend analysis and cost-saving initiatives
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure procurement activities comply with internal policies and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation
- Assist with contract administration and document control
Supplier & Tender Support
- Support tender processes and supplier evaluations for the Head of Procurement
- Monitor supplier performance and assist with non-conformance management
- Serve as a supplier point of contact, escalating issues where necessary
Process Improvement & Projects
- Identify areas to streamline procurement processes and reduce inefficiencies
- Assist with the implementation of new procurement tools and systems
- Contribute to procurement-led and cross-functional project initiatives
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in a procurement, supply chain, or administrative support role
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Familiarity with procurement or ERP systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
