Location: North-East England | Travel: Frequent International | Package: £160,000 - £200,000 + Bonuses + Excellent Benefits + Relocation Support

Our Client
Is a privately owned international trading group, situated within the fisheries and aquacultural sectors, specialising in the global trade of frozen proteins (fish, meat, poultry, pork) and a fast-growing range of dry commodities including rice and sugar. With an annual turnover exceeding US $1 billion, and headquartered in the North-East of England, with offices in China and Spain, their firmly established trading relationships across West Africa, Asia, and South America has rightfully earned them a reputation of reliability, quality, and integrity.
Following a period of sustained growth, the company is creating a new role for a Trading Director to lead its next phase of international expansion.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board, the Trading Director will shape and execute the company’s global trading strategy, oversee high-value trading operations, and manage an experienced international team. This is a key appointment for a commercially astute and strategically minded leader who thrives in a fast-paced, global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver global trading and commercial strategies aligned with company goals.
- Lead daily operations and mentor a high-performing international trading team.
- Identify and secure new trading opportunities in seafood, meat, poultry, and new commodity categories.
- Manage supplier and customer relationships to ensure profitable and sustainable partnerships.
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to support strategic decisions and mitigate risks.
- Oversee P&L performance, focusing on margin optimisation and accurate forecasting.
- Collaborate with the Board and senior management on growth and diversification initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with international trade, sustainability, and governance standards.
- Represent the business globally at trade events and partner meetings.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree (BSc/MSc) in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Proven leadership in global trading, ideally within seafood, agriculture, or protein markets.
- Strong track record of developing and executing profitable trading strategies.
- Expertise in procurement, logistics, supply chain, and international trade.
- Financially literate with strong commercial reporting and analytical skills.
- Experience using ERP systems (SAP preferred).
