About Our Client
Our client is a leading UK food manufacturer with a strong nationwide presence and an annual turnover in excess of £350 million. Known for innovation, high-quality products, and sustained growth, they operate multiple sites and maintain a complex logistics network that supplies major retailers and foodservice customers. As the business continues to expand, they are seeking an experienced Group Transport Manager to optimise and elevate their transport operations.
Role Overview
The Group Transport Manager will be responsible for overseeing all transport activities across multiple manufacturing sites. This is a strategic and hands-on role, ensuring legal compliance, operational efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and manage the transport teams across all sites, ensuring consistent standards and performance.
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all fleet and logistics operations.
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, drivers’ hours, and company policies.
- Manage the company’s O-licence requirements and act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies.
- Implement KPI reporting, cost analysis, and initiatives to improve transport efficiency and reduce spend.
- Work closely with manufacturing, warehousing, and customer service teams to maintain smooth end-to-end supply chain operations.
- Lead fleet management activities, including maintenance scheduling, procurement, and vehicle replacement strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement across transport processes, systems, and safety standards.
- Manage relationships with external logistics partners, suppliers, and contractors.
- Ensure the highest levels of customer service and on-time delivery performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Transport Manager or Group/Multisite Transport Manager within FMCG, food manufacturing, logistics, or a similarly fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation and O-licence management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Ability to analyse data, control budgets, and deliver operational improvements.
- CPC qualification essential.

- Proven leadership and team management skills, including the ability to inspire, mentor, and guide diverse teams
- In-depth understanding of recruitment and talent acquisition, especially within logistics, supply chain, or related sectors
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus
