Role Overview
The Procurement Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the company’s composite raw material cutting and kitting production process runs smoothly. This position is responsible for managing the global supply chain of raw materials, securing timely deliveries, and driving cost-effective purchasing strategies to support commitments to key aerospace customers.
Location: Burnley
Reporting to: Planning & Supply Chain Manager
Main Responsibilities
1. Supplier Relationship Management
Act as the primary liaison with global raw material suppliers.
Build strong, effective relationships to ensure timely performance and resolve supply risks.
Lead supplier performance reviews and oversee corrective actions.
Ensure suppliers maintain required aerospace quality approvals.
2. Order & Inventory Management
Collaborate with Demand Managers and Planning teams to align material orders with demand and stock levels.
Raise, maintain, and manage purchase orders and requisitions in a timely manner.
Maintain supplier open order books, monitor supply risks, and escalate issues when necessary.
Manage raw material pricing and purchasing master data within the ERP system.
3. Commercial & Financial Support
Drive cost reduction initiatives and maintain savings trackers.
Support the Commercial team with pricing information for proposals and customer solutions.
Manage RFQs, quotations, and sourcing decisions.
Assist Finance in resolving invoicing and pricing queries.
4. Compliance & Governance
Support export control activities within the supply chain.
Ensure contracts and service agreements are reviewed in a timely manner.
Contribute to tendering processes by obtaining competitive pricing and negotiating terms.
Support group purchasing requirements across UK and US operations.
Be a pioneer for ESG within the business.
5. Continuous Improvement
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance supplier management processes.
Apply best practices from internal and external stakeholders to strengthen procurement operations.
6. Indirect & Strategic Procurement
Lead sourcing, negotiation, and supplier selection for indirect spend categories
Drive strategic supplier consolidation initiatives and evaluate total cost of ownership when making sourcing decisions.
Support in managing key indirect supplier contracts, renewals, risk assessments, and performance evaluations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure indirect goods and services meet compliance, budget, and performance expectations.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally within aerospace or other regulated industries (not mandatory).
- Strong negotiation, commercial awareness, and supplier management skills, with experience in pricing structures and Supply Agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage key suppliers/partners to achieve on-time delivery and adherence to stringent quality standards.
- Essential experience in Purchase Order management and maintaining accurate procurement data.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced use of Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis; strong skills in Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with evidence of collaborative working and issue resolution across teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to engage effectively and professionally at all levels.
- Ability to balance strategic priorities with operational execution, working both independently and as a collaborative team player.
- Proven relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders, fostering beneficial long-term partnerships.
- Knowledge of export control regulations and aerospace compliance standards; experience in an export-controlled environment is advantageous (training can be provided).
· CIPS professional qualification preferred (not mandatory)
