Our client, a leading retailer known for its cutting-edge technology products, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to manage their electronics category. This is an on-site role based in Leicester, Leicestershire, UK , requiring regular engagement with suppliers and internal teams. You will be responsible for developing category strategies, negotiating with suppliers, driving product selection, and ensuring the profitability and competitiveness of the electronics assortment.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement strategic buying plans for the electronics category, focusing on market trends, consumer demand, and profitability. Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, building strong, long-term relationships. Negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and payment conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and margin targets. Analyse sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and risks. Make informed decisions on product assortment, ranging, and inventory levels to meet customer needs and maximise sales. Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to develop effective product launches and promotional campaigns. Manage supplier performance, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and adherence to contractual agreements. Conduct regular market visits and trade shows to stay abreast of new products and innovations. Manage the product lifecycle, from introduction to obsolescence, optimising stock turnover. Work closely with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure efficient product flow. Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in buying or category management, with a significant focus on electronics or consumer technology. Proven track record of successful negotiation and supplier relationship management. Strong analytical and commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends. Excellent understanding of retail buying processes and inventory management. Proficiency in relevant purchasing software and ERP systems. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build relationships across departments. A passion for technology and consumer electronics.
