Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Buyer to join their dynamic purchasing team in Derby, Derbyshire, UK . This role will play a crucial part in developing and implementing effective sourcing strategies to ensure the procurement of goods and services at optimal cost, quality, and delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing key supplier relationships, negotiating complex contracts, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements across various spend categories. You will conduct thorough market research, analyze supplier performance, and mitigate supply chain risks. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a deep understanding of procurement best practices. The role involves a hybrid working model, combining remote work flexibility with essential in-office collaboration to foster teamwork and strategic alignment. Key responsibilities include leading sourcing initiatives, conducting RFPs/RFQs, evaluating supplier proposals, and managing the end-to-end procurement process. You will also be involved in developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships within the business, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and overall company goals. A key aspect of this role is to drive continuous improvement within the procurement function, implementing best-in-class processes and technologies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to influence at all levels. Responsibilities: Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for key commodities and services. Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including tendering, negotiation, and contract management. Conduct market analysis and supplier performance reviews to ensure best value and mitigate risks. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process efficiencies. Support the wider procurement team with expertise and guidance. Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement best practices. Qualifications: Proven experience in strategic sourcing and procurement. Strong negotiation and contract management skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite. MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification is advantageous. Experience in a hybrid working environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
