Our client, a dynamic and growing organisation in the services sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Category Manager to lead strategic procurement initiatives. This role is based in our accessible offices in Reading, Berkshire , and offers a hybrid working arrangement, blending productive office collaboration with remote flexibility. You will be responsible for managing key procurement categories, developing and executing category strategies, and driving significant cost savings and value creation across the business. Your remit will include supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of strategic sourcing methodologies, and a proven track record of successfully managing complex procurement categories. You should be adept at identifying market trends, evaluating supplier performance, and negotiating favorable terms and conditions. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement category strategies for assigned indirect/direct spend areas. Conduct market analysis and supplier research to identify sourcing opportunities. Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including RFP/RFQ processes. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with key suppliers. Manage and develop supplier relationships to ensure performance and value. Identify and mitigate supply chain risks. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within procurement operations. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align procurement activities. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic procurement or category management. Proven experience in negotiating complex contracts and managing supplier relationships. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in procurement software/tools. Excellent understanding of sourcing methodologies and best practices. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
