Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategically minded Senior Purchasing Manager to join their dynamic team in Norwich, Norfolk, UK . This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the procurement process, from supplier negotiation and contract management to inventory control and cost reduction initiatives. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services critical to the company's operations.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives. Lead and mentor a team of purchasing professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and competitive pricing. Negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and contracts with key suppliers. Manage supplier relationships, performance, and risk throughout the contract lifecycle. Oversee inventory levels, implement stock control measures, and minimise waste. Conduct market analysis to stay abreast of industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and potential supply chain disruptions. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including production, finance, and R&D departments, to understand their procurement needs. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing function, seeking opportunities for cost savings and process optimisation. Ensure compliance with all relevant company policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Prepare regular reports on purchasing performance, spend analysis, and savings achieved.

Qualifications and Experience: Proven track record as a Purchasing Manager or in a senior procurement role, ideally within a fast-paced industry. Demonstrable experience in strategic sourcing, category management, and complex contract negotiation. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail. Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. A relevant degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is highly desirable. Membership in professional bodies such as CIPS would be advantageous.
